vernal equinox

Twice a year the sun shines Directly on the equator giving as equal parts day and night as possible in all the world. Kind of crazy, right?
I can't say if you lived in Southern California all your life you would know the true feeling of Spring, but I could be wrong. Growing up in Massachusetts, I remember being so excited when Spring came. The first time that year the morning news said the high would be 60, my mom would let me wear my new shorts and shirt ready for the occasion (c. 1983> Esprit white and orange abstract graphics mixed with floral print- topped off with a jean jacket, natch). Then you knew Summer was coming. And then, consequentially, you knew the school year would be coming to a close. In fact, you looked so forward to Spring, you stared at the tv on February 2nd waiting for the groundhog to inform you when to expect it's arrival.
In LA, sixty degrees is the equivalent to freezing, but in the north east you would have the convertible top down.
Here's to the new.
